Dawn of the Magicians was created for a small performance space in the Museum of Modern Art in Prague. Weis, with longtime collaborator Jennifer Miller, presented a series of technical set-ups and short works she revised for the Czech audience.

In one section titled American Cowboy, Weis and Miller split the stage. Between them stands a third performer, The Outsider: a composite video image made of Weis’s upper body and Miller’s lower body. The three figures dance to Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack to the Spaghetti Western Once Upon a Time in the West. Weis as The Cowboy and Miller as The Cowgirl intricately coordinate their movements to bring life and personality to The Outsider.

In a rare opportunity for Weis, the Czech audience participated in a startlingly honest post-show discussion. They expressed conflicted and conflicting feelings regarding the United States and the constant stream of performers passing through Prague from the USA.
